Walking Paper Reindeer STEM Challenge
P7 made walking paper reindeeers today as part of their christmas fun! They learned that the angles of the legs make the reindeer rock side to side and gravity pulls the reindeer down the ramp. Pupils had be accurate in their cutting and folding and they also had to problem solve in order for their reindeer to work as planned. Each pupils tested their reindeer and if it was having trouble walking, they had to think about what they needed to change. Did they need to change the incline of the ramp? Did the friction on the ramp need to change or did the angle of the legs need to change? P7 had so much fun and were determined to make their reindeers walk and they were extreamly keen to beat each other in their races.
Here are some videos of the pupils racing their reindeers against each other!
